Glow-Up Hot Chocolate
There is nothing more soothing than warming up a cold day with a good Hot Chocolate and this creamy, indulgent recipe is a total game changer! It is so beyond delicious that you would never guess its healthy. Loaded with nutritious ingredients and healthy fats this recipe will satisfy a sweet tooth and leave your skin glowing.
It contains not one, but two superfoods - Raw Cacao and Maca. Raw Cacao is rich in antioxidants and magnesium which, amongst many benefits, helps to relax muscles and relieve cramps.
Maca is actually a root vegetable that comes from the cruciferous family (think brocolli and kale!!) and gives this warming drink a delicious malty taste. Honestly, don’t knock it till you try it! It is dried, ground up and sold as a powder. This magical herb is a nutritional powerhouse known for its ability to boost our mood and brain function, as well as regulate hormones in the body. Its also an adaptogen, which means that it improves the health of our adrenal system which regulates our stress response.
Not just your average Hot Chocolate, hey?
1 mug of Coconut Milk (or preferred milk)
10 Cashews (preferably soaked for at least 4 hours but if un-soaked you may want to strain the Hot Chocolate at the end)
1 Medjool Date (pitted)
2 tsp Raw Cacao
Powder
1 tsp Maca Powder
Whipped coconut cream (optional)
Put all of the ingredients into a blender (except the whipped coconut cream, if using) and blend until really smooth.
Pour into a saucepan and gently heat, stirring regularly. Remove from the heat before it begins to boil.
Serve in a beautiful mug and top with the whipped coconut cream (if using), sprinkle with a little cacao and add a cinnamon stick for the ultimate experience.
